Celebrate good times come on! The Animal Rescue Site is turning 24, and we’re throwing the biggest birthday bash for the real VIPs — the cats and dogs in shelters who need a little extra love. Our friend Piglet is having a paw-ty with his new favorite toy! For shelters saving thousands of pet lives every year, covering just the basics — food, medical care, shelter — stretches every dollar. That means there’s often no room in the budget for "fun stuff" like toys and treats. But what’s a birthday party without a few presents? Your donation helps send "paw-ty supplies" — like tasty treats and playful toys — to shelter pets who deserve a reason to wag, purr, and celebrate. These goodies aren’t just cute extras — they’re mood boosters, anxiety relievers, and tail-wag triggers that help animals feel calm, loved, and ready to meet their future families. Because a relaxed, happy pet is one that shines — and shines their way straight into a forever home. Reina the chihuahua was sooo excited to try the new biscuits. Never mind that they were bigger than her head. She was all in! Reina and her 3 sisters were found as strays in need of medical care. Now they are healthy and adventurous! They are definitely enjoying the biscuits and cookies that were donated. Even if it takes all afternoon. Cheeto is an affectionate boy who gets so excited during interactions that he sometimes struggles to regulate his emotions. The Café Nara lickable treats have been a great tool in helping Cheeto manage his excitement.  Since he’s highly food-motivated, these treats keep him engaged and focused, allowing him to enjoy enrichment without becoming overstimulated.    Petey, an 8 month old kitten, came into Kitten Korner Rescue with an eye injury. He was taken to their vet and an eye specialist to have his eyelid repaired. It was a preexisting injury to his eye when they took possession of him. A portion of his eye lid was missing causing his fur to rub on his eye causing inflammation. After receiving surgery, he got lots of rest and snuggles with some favorite toys by his side. He is healing well an his vision is intact!

Alebrijes are a fairly recent Mexican art form, attributed to Pedro Linares. Unconscious due to illness in 1936, he was presumed near death and yet his dreams were extremely vivid. He tells of a place where all was peaceful and quiet until all of a sudden there appeared a lion with an eagle's head, a rooster with bull's horns and a donkey with butterfly wings. They kept screeching 'alebrije, alebrije!' and Pedro began running away. He encountered a man who told him it was not yet his time to be there are and he should continue running towards the exit.
